Local Musicians Raise Money for New Jersey Flood Victims

Jersey Shore artists have an admirable record of banding together to take care of their own the best way they know how: by staging benefit concerts.

Honorary Asbury artist Willie Nile (he’s originally from Buffalo) will headline “Rocking for Relief,” a benefit show Oct. 16 at the Stone Pony to raise money for the American Red Cross. The funds raised will be used to assist residents affected by the severe flooding that followed Hurricane Irene.

The show kicks off at 1 p.m. and will feature two stages, a songwriter stage and a rock n’roll stage. There will more than 20 acts performing, including Nick Clemons, PK Lavengood, Lisa Bouchelle, Sandy Mack, Lance Larson, Vini Lopez, Billy Hector, Sonny Kenn, Slim Chance, Matt O’Ree, Quincy Mumford, Marc Muller, Emily Grove, Joe D’Urso, Eryn Shewell, Linda Chorney, Arlan Feiles, James Dalton, Laura Crisci, Rob Paparozzi and Bobby Strange.

The festivities will be hosted by Jeff Raspe and Stu Coogan of Brookdale Public Radio, 90.5 The Night. Tickets are $18 in advance and $20 at the door.
